Tip 1: Color blocking does not mean using every color in the rainbow, throwing it on yourself, and calling it fashion. This isn't a real rule, but my suggestion is to keep it simple, incorporating two to four colors in your look. If you're going for the bold, four color look, try to stay neutral with your outfit (maybe a hot pink pant and a tangerine top) and including the other colors in maybe a belt and pair of great shoes (ie. chartreuse belt and royal blue pump)
Tip 2: A neutral shoe can be your fashion safe house. This trend is really bold, so to ensure that you don't look like a clown, just pair the outfit with a nude heel. This will tone down the outfit and give it a more expensive, classic look.
Tip 3: Buy for quality, not quantity. I know there are tons of colorful options in stores now, but don't get excited over sticker slickers (those items that are so cheap in price, but when you get them home you find that they're cheap everywhere else). If you're doing such a bright look, you want to make sure that your clothes are of quality. Colors can often cheapen a look, so stick with richer, more vibrant colors, rather than all the neons that are ever-popular in the malls. Tip 4: Have fun! You are not limited in creativity with this look, and the last thing you have to worry about is what people will think. If you follow these four steps, I assure you that your inner fashion god/goddess will shine through and have people wanting to dress just like you!
