Designer, John Galliano beautifully executes his Spring 2009 Haute Couture line through his flawless blend of fashion and theatrics. Each model embodies a timeless caricature; each piece in Galliano’s collection a novel portion of artwork in the world’s fashion gallerias. This inventive designer never fails to amaze the population, capturing his audiences through his innovative hues and epic collaborations with world-renowned makeup and hair artists. This collection includes a range of rich pastels and bold florals, my favorites being the magenta, silk cocktail dress on model Chanel Iman, as well as the blue sheer dress with tier detailing. Although many of the gowns were a bit too revealing due to their fabric choice, or lack-there-of, each had its own unique detailing and styling. The trenches that accompanied many of the pieces were crafted magnificently and could easily translated into the mainstream, straight off of the runway. John Galliano’s Spring 2009 collection exemplified a modern day Elizabethan era, staying true to the opulence and whimsicality of the European influence. To view the entire show, visit johngalliano.com.
